Dan Ford was a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend. He was someone special to so many and his life ended far too soon at the age of 40.
In the fall of 2007, Dan was diagnosed with Urethra cancer – a rare disease with a 100% fatality rate. On April 7th 2009, after a tough fight, Dan lost his battle.
He was a competitive person by nature. In 1997, he was inducted into the Methuen Hall of Fame for his athletic accomplishments as a student at Methuen High - Class of ’88. He was one of the region’s top running backs, running for over a thousand yards each season. Dan was also a top quarter-miler on the track team. He was the Class B runner- up in both his junior and senior years (50.8 seconds). He went on to play football for the University of New Haven and the University of Lowell.
He was a strong, powerful man with a big heart and a caring personality.
So to honor his life and to help those still fighting this disease, we’ll be holding The Dan Ford Road Race every year. We hope you’ll join us.
